Helping empower Residents to make *informed* choices is a big part of what I do, which is exactly why I included a video tutorial on how to turn off voice. I've also done vidtuts on how to disable particles and flexiprims as you've likely seen. :) I'm not fond of overcomplicating matters and wastefully creating new problems, and I certainly don't approve of giving undue attention to those who are unkind to others and aren't advancing Second Life... since my mailbox is flooded with those who are telling me what vidtuts they'd like to see next to improve their Second Lives, those come 1st!

Funny thing is, I'm one of those guys who's predominantly had a girl avatar. And I always thought, "Even if we do get some newfangled voice chat in the future, I'll just hang out with other people who don't want to use it either." It hasn't exactly worked out that way because I started doing video tutorials with my real voice and have grown more comfortable over time, but that's worked out even better than I hoped.

WindLight's another funny cake, because the WindLight project itself includes avatar impostors and other performance-INCREASING enhancements.

But nevertheless, I am sort of a SLibertarian (hee hee), so I encourage people who'd rather not use voice and have shared interests (like descriptive text roleplay) to befriend each other, and feel better about this.

Nice of DaQbet to say this... the blessing is, of course, hopefully even with people who hate VOICE CHAT, that they watch more of my video tutorials, and hopefully learn something else that they find useful. :DTorleyhttp://torley.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2034111319181664677.post-9915164432522655832008-03-25T11:08:51.000-07:002008-03-25T11:08:51.000-07:00I agree, Torley. But you know what?I know a few guy...I agree, Torley.

But you know what?

I know a few guys that are female avaters and speak in voice. They don't try to hide it. And, for them, as it is for you - the majority, if not everyone that get's to know these guys - finds it ENDEARING.

To me, it makes you even more likable and fun than without.

I understand the 'issues' many of these voice/WindLight/New Feture-haters have. And I can understand their frustration. And I know they are simply lashing out.

But, it always has been my argument - live and let live. I really don't like cottage cheese. LOL. But I would refuse your right to buy it and eat it. :)

Thank you for your feedback and understanding!Ari Blackthornehttp://slreview.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2034111319181664677.post-32605277866059220972008-03-25T11:14:50.000-07:002008-03-25T11:14:50.000-07:00Ahaha, I totally agree 100%. I'm a gamer girl, and I've known a lot of gamer guys -- and most of them who persistently chose female characters in fighting games and others did so because of what a lot of gamers call the "that's my baby" factor.

In other words, their choice of a female character did not necessarily denote some inner desire to be female, but rather allowed them to 'own' that hot lady of their choosing and to be proud of her when he, himself, accomplished a goal. It's no different when I choose a girl in a fighting game -- I'm doing the same thing, really. And a lot of guys in SL have this same perspective when they play a girl.

It's like one of my friends told me in Final Fantasy XI when I asked him why he played a girl -- because so many of the females in FFXI are men in disguise. He said, "Simply put, if I've got to be looking at someone's backside all day, why not have it be a hot chick?"

Food for thought. *LOL*Naoki Ninetailsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2034111319181664677.post-5586230896933050882008-03-25T11:16:01.000-07:002008-03-25T11:16:01.000-07:00Oh, P.S.
