It's likely by now you are well aware of the big "take down" that happened this past weekend in Second Life, that included the opens-source scripts "Multi-Love Pose" (MLP). The MLP scripts are used in a massive number of furniture product and HUDs throughout SL.
Now, only a small percentage of items that use the MLP scripts were damaged in this take down, because it had to do with the account name of the one being accused of infringing the DMCA. Apparently, if this person appeared as the creator of any portion of your set of scripts - swoosh. Your sex...thingie stopped working.
Yes, I'm having fun with it. I know the MLP scripts are used for far more than just sex...thingies.
As suspected, the takedown the these scripts was an accidental no-no, as the scripts are open sourced. Lindap Linden has made a bog post explaining in a bit more detail about the DMCA issues and how to find more information.
The very first words of the post looks like:
Thank you Lindap and Linden Lab. Hey, we're all human and we all make mistakes. Thank you for being up-front in admitting it and owning up to it. And the first words in the posting, too. So, on behalf of all users of Second Life that ever have been and ever will be, I accept your apology.

"Linden Lab inadvertently disabled some inworld content this past weekend. The problem should be fixed now, and we apologize for the inconvenience it caused."

Responding to Questions about the DMCA Process
"Also be aware that persons who materially misrepresent copyright infringement in DMCA claims may be liable for damages, including attorneys’ fees and costs. In one case, a company that sought removal of content protected by the fair use doctrine paid over $100,000 USD."
